Philip Thalis-designed unfinished south coast masterpiece sells for $7.3 million
The south coast oceanfront property of businesswoman Kerry Moran, Pebble Cove Farm, has sold for $7.3 million.
The Kiama residence designed by architect Philip Thalis was half-complete when it was listed for $7.5 million in May.
Ms Moran, known for her antique and religious art collection, had commissioned the striking V-shaped residence in 2001, but construction stalled for almost a decade due to the global financial crisis.
Earlier in the year Ms Moran decided not to make Pebble Cove Farm her “forever home”.
The concrete residence is clad in zinc, stone and glass, and sits on a ridgeline with views up and down the coast, and a central garden and swimming pool protected on either side.
Ken Jacobs, of Christie’s International, and Neil Campbell, of Ray White Gerringong, declined to reveal details about the buyer, but Mr Campbell confirmed the sales price.
The result sets a new high locally, topping the $7 million standing record set in Gerringong by retailer and Ingham chicken heir Robby Ingham when he bought 40 hectares of vacant oceanfront land in 2012.
Ms Moran is best known in Sydney for her Philip Thalis-designed home on the beachfront at Point Piper which sold in 2011 for $18.5 million.
Ms Moran bought the five lots that make up the 38-hectare cattle farm from the Miller family, generational dairy farmers who also sold the Moran family their historic Renfrew Park property at Gerringong in 2010 for $3.8 million.
